The first stanza conveys the theme of this song, that the turning of fate is the philosophy of life. Life with its ups and downs is put in an analogy, being likened with the turning of cartwheels. Sometimes we're at the top of the world with "galak badarai" or "bursting laughter", some other times we're down low with "taimpik, badan marasai" or "burdened, tortured self".

This main theme is followed by a subtheme, depicting that the current situation  is   the cartwheel in the low position. "Alah den cubo ba'urang, yo nan ba'urang, Nan buruak juo tasuo yo nan tasuo" or "I've tried hard to reach everything good, but I kept finding the opposite", states this situation.

Finally the last stanza confirms main theme about the goodness that's been waiting the future. Pain and tears will be replaced with joy and laughter, reflected in last three lines "Basakik-sakik dahulu, Basanang yo kamudian,  Barugi mangko balabo".
